Frequently Asked
Questions
Organizing
What is the difference between a professional organizer and a cleaning service?
A cleaning service maintains your existing space. A professional organizer reimagines it. We create custom systems tailored to how you and your household actually live — so that tidiness becomes effortless to maintain, not just something that lasts until Thursday.
How long does a typical organizing project take?
It depends on scope. A single closet may take 3–4 hours. A whole-home project for a large estate may span several days. We provide a detailed timeline estimate after your complimentary discovery call, and we work at whatever pace is right for your household.
Do I need to be home during the organizing session?
Many clients prefer to be present for the initial walkthrough and decision-making conversations, then step away while we work. Others prefer to be involved throughout. We adapt to whatever makes you most comfortable — your home, your terms.
Will you throw things away without asking me?
Never. Every decision about what stays and what goes is yours. Our role is to present options thoughtfully, offer perspective when helpful, and execute your choices with care.
Do you serve clients in Princeton, Montclair, and Short Hills?
Yes — these are among our most active service areas. We serve clients throughout Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Essex, and Union Counties, including Princeton, Montclair, Short Hills, Millburn, Westfield, Summit, Bernardsville, Far Hills, and Flemington, among many others throughout New Jersey. In Pennsylvania, we serve Bucks County including Newtown, New Hope and Doylestown.
Junk Hauling & Donations
What happens to items you haul away?
We carefully sort everything into four categories: donation, resale, recycling, and responsible disposal. We partner with vetted nonprofits and shelters across New Jersey and Pennsylvania to ensure usable items find new homes. You receive a documented donation summary for charitable tax purposes within 48 hours of your haul.
Are you licensed for junk hauling in New Jersey?
Yes. Hygge Spacemakers: Donation and Junk Hauling holds an A901 license from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection — the state's certification for solid waste haulers. We are also DOT certified and FMCSA registered, and fully insured.
Can you handle an estate cleanout after a loss?
Yes — and we approach this work with particular care and sensitivity. We understand that clearing a loved one's home is not simply a logistical task. Our team moves with patience, discretion, and genuine respect for everything that space holds.
Do you remove items from upper floors or difficult spaces?
Absolutely. Our team is equipped to handle heavy furniture, appliances, and items from any floor or space — without damage to your walls, floors, or finished surfaces.
Move Concierge
What does a move concierge actually do?
We manage your entire move so you don't have to. That includes pre-move editing, professional packing, hiring and coordinating movers, communicating with your designer or contractors including at the destination, overseeing the unpack, and staying until every room is set up and functional. Think of us as your personal move director.
Are you a licensed moving company?
Yes. Hygge Spacemakers: Move Concierge is DOT certified and FMCSA registered — the federal requirements for licensed moving operations. We are fully insured and accountable at every level of your move.
Do you work with our existing movers?
Yes. We are integrated with Pink Zebra Moving, or we can vet and recommend one on your behalf. Either way, we serve as the single point of coordination — so you're not fielding calls from five different vendors on moving day.
Do you serve clients relocating out of state?
Our primary service area is New Jersey and Pennsylvania. For clients relocating out of state, we manage the origin-side services — packing, editing, and coordination — and can recommend trusted partners at the destination.
Do you serve clients in Princeton, Montclair, and Short Hills?

We serve clients throughout Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Essex, and Union Counties, including Princeton, Montclair, Short Hills, Millburn, Westfield, Summit, Bernardsville, Far Hills, and Flemington, among many others throughout New Jersey.
